People are increasingly turning towards meditation techniques in order to cope with the many pressures and stress from today’s hectic lifestyle. With chaos all around us, more of us are seeking balance. People are turning to mediation as a way to alleviate stress and achieve a sense of inner peace and relaxation knowing that a healthy mind leads to a healthy body.
Science has shown that there are therapeutic benefits of meditation practices. The state of relaxation and the altered state of consciousness can be very effective in reducing feelings of stress, anxiety, panic and depression.
However, there are many ways to reach the mind and at the Blue Dragon we are excited to introduce a new program we are offering as part of our meditation classes.
Each class will consist of a 30-40 minute session of one of the activities listed below that are designed to relax, enlighten or inspire you. Activities will be rotated on a weekly basis and will always end with 10-15 minutes of sitting meditation.
Basic, Easy to Learn Chi Kung (Qigong) Movements – Learn to develop a better body awareness by feeling where the tension in your body exists and learning to relax and let go.
Breathing Exercises – This is wonderful lead in to meditation. Learn to breathe deeply and correctly and feel your body relax in the process.
Inspirational Talks, Readings & Discussions – A great opportunity to expand your thinking and question old patterns and behaviors. So many of our health issues that plague our society today actually stem from the way we think. Learn to tune into those inner thoughts by becoming more self aware.
There is no charge for this program and it is open to the public.
