Let me tell you about...

9-year-old Christopher Geller: When his parents first brought Chris in for classes, when he was 5 years old, it was quite a challenge to get him involved. You see, Chris was very, very shy. When his parents would try to leave, Chris would cry and cry. They had a very hard time leaving him and nearly decided not to enroll him. However, they realized that a lack of exposure to outside activities and with other children would work against their child and so they decided it was worth the effort to get him involved.

Recently, Chris was having trouble with a bully in school. Every day this bully, who was bigger and stronger, would instigate Chris by calling him names or making fun of him. Eventually, the bully escalated his actions into pushing and shoving Chris. To Chris, there was no apparent reason for these actions against him. One day while in physical education class this bully took things a step further and approached Chris even more aggressively. Chris was trying to talk to the bully and asked, "Why are you doing this?" but the bully kept coming at him. Well, Chris has now been training with us for a few years. He naturally reacted with some evasive movements. The bully became frustrated that he could not get to Chris and then tried to grab him by the throat, Chris just reacted with a straight kick (the bully's arms were longer that Chris' so kicking allowed a longer reach). Chris' balance and stability was apparent to the bully as he lost his balance. He immediately backed off and Chris has had much less trouble with him since.

Chris' parents are so proud of him...and so are we!
